Why per-mg price matters more than the sticker price

The number on the product page is the least useful figure in peptide shopping. It tells you what one vial costs, but not what one milligram costs — and milligrams are the thing you're actually buying.

The arithmetic nobody does

Take two listings side by side:

  • A 5mg vial at $49 works out to $9.80/mg
  • A 10mg vial at $89 works out to $8.90/mg

The second vial costs 80% more at the till and is roughly 10% cheaper per milligram. Anyone sorting by price alone picks the worse deal, confidently.

This is why every listing on this site shows a per-mg figure underneath the price. It's the only number that lets you compare a 5mg vial against a 10mg one without doing mental arithmetic in a checkout queue.

Shipping is not a rounding error

Per-mg pricing gets more interesting once delivery enters the picture, because shipping is charged per order, not per milligram.

Add $15 shipping to both vials above:

  • 5mg vial: $64 delivered → $12.80/mg
  • 10mg vial: $104 delivered → $10.40/mg

The gap widened from 10% to nearly 19%. A flat shipping fee punishes small orders disproportionately, and the smaller the vial, the harder it bites.

A vendor with higher listed prices and free shipping can easily beat a "cheap" vendor charging $19 delivery. You cannot see this from the product page.

That's why the totals here are delivered prices. Product cost, then shipping from the vendor's own settings, then any protection or handling fee they add — and only then divided by milligrams.

Coupons change the ranking, not just the total

A discount code doesn't shave a fixed amount off every vendor equally, so it can reorder the entire comparison. Worked example:

  1. Vendor A — $120 for 10mg, free shipping → $12.00/mg
  2. Vendor B — $99 for 10mg, $19 shipping → $11.80/mg

Close enough to be a coin flip. Now apply a 15% code at Vendor B:

  • $99 becomes $84.15, plus $19 shipping = $103.15 → $10.32/mg

Vendor B goes from marginally cheaper to 14% cheaper. Nothing about the listed prices changed — only which vendor had a live code.

This is why the comparison shows both figures: the price you see, and the price you actually pay once a code applies.

Bigger isn't automatically cheaper

Bulk usually wins, but not always. Vendors set prices per SKU, and mid-size vials are frequently the worst value in a range because they're priced by feel rather than by formula.

Check the per-mg column across every size before assuming the largest vial is the bargain. On plenty of products the 10mg beats both the 5mg and the 20mg.

What to actually compare

Before you buy, line up four things:

  1. Per-mg delivered cost — not the sticker price, not the per-vial price
  2. Whether a code applies to the specific product, since many exclude sale items
  3. Stock status, because the cheapest listing is worthless if it ships in three weeks
  4. Testing — a cheap vial with no published COA isn't cheap, it's unknown
